This weeks featured CD is As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls by Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays.  While I usually try to pick something that perhaps isn’t so well known, Pat Metheny will certainly be known to people who enjoy jazz.  I’ve owned this CD since at least 1986 and still enjoy listening to it while reading or doing other quiet things.

Pat Metheny is one of those guitarists whose sound is such a signature that his music is instantly recognizable.  Lyle Mays, on keyboards, collaborated with Metheny on several projects and has a couple of very good solo albums of his own.  Lala.com let me down and doesn’t have this CD available for online listening, so I’ll have to make due with Amazon.com’s shorter song samples.  And since this CD only has 5 songs, the 30 second samples don’t give much of a taste, so I’ve also included samples from the CD Works, which is a “best of” CD and contains my favorite Metheny song, Travels.
