Google’s going to make an attempt to crawl a little deeper into our lives with their announcement of a new open-source operating system for PCs called Chrome OS. With the exception of the login barrier between normal Gmail accounts and Gmail for domains, I’ve been very happy with all of Google’s offerings and look forward to seeing what they come up with.
The free OS will be Linux based and be heavily oriented to cloud computing with most everything happening within the browser. The rollout will have it first being installed on netbooks in the second half of 2010. So there’s apparently some work yet to be done. Microsoft got in trouble bundling their browser into their OS. How’s Google going to get around that when there’s no distinction between the browser and the OS?

Walter,
The chrome OS is interesting to me since I think that it supposed to be super light weight and boot up very quickly. Maybe I can use it to bring new life to my first generation eeepc which does everything very slowly.
