ReplayTV Hiccups Again

ReplayTVI’ve recounted problems on this blog before with my aging ReplayTV DVRs that I can’t bear to give up.  Upon arriving home today I found both of my units in a continual state of rebooting.  Cue despair.  How in the world did two go down simultaneously? Answer: Thank goodness they didn’t … ReplayTV’s server did.

Carl Sagan Sings

Auto-Tune, that technology that lets the most untalented singers stay in tune, is used in this video to make clips from Carl Sagan’s 1980 miniseries Cosmos into a surprisingly enjoyable music video.  Kudos to whomever the talented person was who put this together.

So apparently blue rats aren’t good enough.  Scientists have succeeded in getting rats with spinal cord injuries to walk again, this time without even bothering to repair the spine.  Again, why would anyone have thought to even try this method?

Google Voice

voice_logoGoogle Voice, formerly called Grand Central, is a messaging system that’s a little hard to grasp at first, but can be a huge convenience.  When you sign up for Google Voice (free), you’re given a phone number within your area code.  You then provide the numbers of your wireline, mobile, work, etc. From that point, any call that comes in to the GV number will ring all those other phones simultaneously.
