Pinterest linked to Amazon Associates account?

by on Apr.08, 2012, under Uncategorized

I thought I had a nifty money making idea after seeing how many “likes” and “re-pins” I got after putting a few basement renovation things up on Pinterest, but alas, they seem to be onto me.

With an Amazon Associates account, you can put links to Amazon.com items on your website and when someone clicks on one, under some circumstances you get a small fee.  If they buy the item, or any other item after clicking your link, you get a bigger fee.  I had hoped perhaps I could Pin while logged in to my associates account and then when anyone clicked one of my Pinterest items, they’d be sent to my page and I’d get the referral credit.

Nope.  Pinterest strips out the referral part of the URL, so the user sees the page, but I don’t get credit.  Rats.
