Ryobi TEK4 Laser Measure Review

Every so often through work I have to measure an existing building so it’s floor plan can be drawn in CAD. Normally I do that with a standard tape measure or measuring wheel. I’ve tried ultrasonic devices, but they don’t work in lots of situations. I recently ran across this Ryobi Tek4 Laser Measure device on a closeout sale and recently had a chance to try it out on a job. I’m sold. This thing work’s great. (continue reading…)

I’m Back!

OK, so its been 6 months since Neutralaxis.com was online. Here’s what happened if anyone cares.
It seems that when two huge trees fall on one’s home, it creates a bit of a disruption for almost exactly 6 months while the repairs are made.
In the 6 months prior to that, the site was online, but updates were few. Credit that to a change in personal status. That situation has come and gone, and a better, more stable one begun. Hopefully I’ll be able to get back to things here more regularly.

Spare the Weight: Use Valentine Candy to Calculate the Speed Of Light

Wired.com has an experiment you can perform at home with chocolate candies to calculate the speed of light. Its the same principle as behind the method Cliff Stoll used to calculate the speed of sound in this video. i.e. Frequency x wavelength = speed. The cleverness is in the means of measurement.
