My first impressions of Tivo are entirely favorable. I didn't think I'd like it recording things I hadn't explicitly told it to, but I find that I like having some surprise recordings.

My only complaint, and maybe it's because I haven't completely learned my way around the UI, is that if I start watching a movie and turn things off in the middle, I have to fast forward back to where I was when I want to start watching it again. There doesn't seem to be a way to jump forward a specific number of minutes like I could with my ReplayTV, and it also would remember where I had stopped.

My problem is, There's a few particular albums that won't show up like your problem but it's only that particular album. It plays when being streamed from one itunes to another, and all other subsequent albums have been indexed automatically by AG except that album . It's driving me nuts. I've deleted it, removed it and replaced it many times over and still nothing. Not showing up at all.

That’s an odd one. Right click the Audiogalaxy icon in your system tray and select “Your Music Folders”. Do you see any folders with a filled in box instead of a checkmark? If you do, expand that folder and see what’s selected. That’s the only thing I can imagine is happening and that you accidentally have those folders checked. Maybe also make sure you don’t have a forgotten desktop folder that is a duplicate of the USB folder you don’t want scanned.

I am having the opposite problem. AG is scanning my entire external usb hard drive and my desktop. I only have 1 folder selected on the usb external drive. I expect it to scan sub folders but why is it scanning the others? I have 2 folders in root of the usb drive and just the 1 folder selected.

Tom, I think you're out of luck. You can easily set Tuesday as the only day to water, but it will water EVERY Tuesday. I'm unaware of a way to make it work on less than a weekly basis. The only option I can think of is to use "auto-off". With it set to auto-off, the schedule is ignored. You'd have to remember to click "auto-off" every other week so it didn't happen when it's not allowed.

That's quite a restrictive schedule, allowing only one day of watering every two weeks.

We are currently in a water restriction program that only allows us to water on Tuesday every other week. How can this be done?

By the way. I just found out that they do have an outdoor version, basically an add-on option for the controller ordered with part number: PC-12-EXT-PAK
A google search for this part number will bring up many vendors who carry it.

Walter,

I don't really understand the instructions here. I guess you have to try it. Coincidentally, Schedule Direct is the default scheduler built into Myth TV when I was playing with that.$20 a year is a lot less than $15 a month with tivo.

With the latest software, it's a significantly improved product. I have mine update the weather each week and it does indeed make adjustments accordingly. One aspect of it I've seen is related to water utility companies prohibiting watering on certain days to conserve. If you set a day or days as prohibited days, it doesn't water any less. Instead it waters longer on the other days. It's as if it knows it wants to water for, say 1 hour during the next week. If you prohibit watering on all but one day, it do the entire hour in that one day. So not watering on certain days accomplishes nothing.

I've also set my computer to stop the program and restart it each day. This works around a minor bug in the current software where the current day being hilighted doesn't update automatically at midnight each day.

Mounting the controller in a cabinet would work I guess, but it would need to be weatherproof and fairly large. Also probably not metal because it might interfere with the wireless link to the USB controller.
