Google Voice

Google Voice, formerly called Grand Central, is a messaging system that’s a little hard to grasp at first, but can be a huge convenience. When you sign up for Google Voice (free), you’re given a phone number within your area code. You then provide the numbers of your wireline, mobile, work, etc. From that point, any call that comes in to the GV number will ring all those other phones simultaneously.
Firefox 3.5 Upgrade Problems

A lagging Firefox plug-in that hadn’t been updated for Firefox 3.5 yet has been keeping me from going ahead with the upgrade, but today the plugin was ready so I let the upgrade proceed. It wasn’t painless though. Ordinarily Firefox updates are dead simple, but this one took a little effort to get working again. (continue reading…)
Dropbox

As long as I’m mentioning Carbonite today, I may as well give a little mini review of Dropbox too. In essence, Dropbox makes a folder that resides on multiple computers simultaneously. While I rely on Carbonite to save me from disaster, I use Dropbox as a simple convenience when I’m needing to work on a file from multiple locations. (continue reading…)
