Decode Short URLs with Firefox Plugin

Short URLs, those randomized web addresses used for space savings and common in Twitter posts, are a big convenience to the Twitter poster because they leave more characters available for the post itself. But where are you going to find yourself after clicking that short URL? YOURLS for Self-hosted Short URLs

yourlsIf you don’t want to depend on an external short URL service like bit.ly or tinyurl.com and you have access to your MySQL database, you can install and run your own with YOURLS.  I managed to get it up and running in about an hour in Linux.  The instructions at yourls.org mentions that an installation alongside WordPress is a bit different than the one described for a standard site.  I found that to be true, and have described what I found worked after the break. Twitter Marketing & CHAINGANG

chaingang2OK.  Here I sit in the US Midwest, minding my own business thinking “am I too old to bother with Twitter?”  But I’m a geek, so I sign up and follow a few bands I like.  Within 24 hrs; actually before I had even made my first tweet, I see that I’m being followed by hayleyjfoster in Australia.  Who?  Why?  I haven’t even tweeted yet.  Clever marketing, that’s why.
